Atlanta-
Gamers attending TGN's Atlanta Regional Open this past Saturday found themselves treated to more than just video games. The Gaming Nation, a national video game tournament firm, was holding an event for Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Guitar Hero 3 and Madden '08 outside of Atlanta, GA when 26 gamers fell ill within a few hours.
Ambulance crews worked in shifts transporting the ill gamers to area hospitals. The gaming had to be brought to a halt and there was "no foul play involved."
TGN tech, Loof Lirpa, blames the medical mishap on a 144 port amplified network hubs stating:
...the doctors and I agree that the sickness was actually related to bright flashing, such as the incident in Japan a few years ago. To be more specific, we believe that electronic diode (7a) builds up amplified signal releasing in burst rather than the constant flow causing the intense flashing.
Names are not being released of the 9 dead or 17 hospitalized at this time, but we expect a full recovery from the 17 gamers in an undisclosed hospital. TGN regrets the loss of all affected gamers, and a class action lawsuite is now being made against the manufacturer.
